Malaysian Palm Oil Industry
 |
Malaysia is currently the world’s largest palm oil exporter. Malaysia accounts for 41% of world palm oil production and 47% of world exports. The country also accounts for 11% and 25% of the world's total production and exports of oils and fats.
Being the biggest producer and exporter of palm oil and palm oil products, Malaysia's position as the World's leading Palm Oil-producing country has allowed the industry to flourish in a way it has never done before. There is an increasingly wider variety of by-products being produced in Malaysia as a result of continuous R&D efforts; making downstream manufacturing into an industry itself. This allows Malaysia to remain heads and shoulders above its other competitors.
The Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC) was set up in 1990 with the objective of making Malaysian Palm Oil the leading vegetable oil in the world. MPOC’s mission is to promote the market expansion of Malaysian palm oil industry and its products by enhancing the image of palm oil and creating better acceptance of palm oil through awareness of various technological and economic advantages (techno-economic advantages) and environmental sustainability. |
